After a complete interior and exterior renovation, that took more
than six months to complete, Waterton Lakes National Park has Serenity.
Late last month, Shameer and Natasha Suleman opened the doors of
Serenity Spa and so far business has been far from serene!
The Sulemans have been in Waterton for nearly 20 years. The Suleman
family own and manage both the Bayshore Inn and Glacier Suites, but
for a long time Shameer says he felt something was missing.
“Sometimes we’d have only half the family coming down to visit
Waterton, not everybody’s into golf, hiking, or any of Waterton’s
other outdoor activities,” he explains.
That’s where the spa comes in. With relaxation now on the menu,
Waterton truly does have something for everybody. The Sulemans are
even finding that people are checking into the Bayshore purely to
spend the weekend relaxing at the spa.
“We poured our heart and soul into it to make sure Waterton would be
proud,” says Shameer.
“We wanted to create something upscale and luxurious,” adds Natasha.
The Sulemans have recruited not just one, but three massage
therapists, two estheticians and to top it off the spa’s receptionist
is a professional hairdresser and make-up artist. In addition the spa
uses only organic, environmentally friendly products, fitting for a
National Park.
Natasha is hoping that the spa will enhance the experience of new
brides in the park.
“A lot of brides found themselves running to Pincher Creek to get
their hair and make-up done. Now they can get that done here,” she
explains. In addition, the service will also be welcomed by the park’s
longer-term residents.
Serenity spa offers package deals as well as individual treatments for
both men and women.
In addition to the traditional range of pedicures, manicures, waxing
and massages, Serenity also has a few specialist treatments.
Natasha says she is a big fan of the spa’s biodynamic facial.
“It’s great for hypersensitive skin types,” she says, adding that each
treatment is customized to a client’s skin type, so there’s something
for everybody.
Shameer on the other hand is a big fan of the spa’s massage menu.
Besides offering deep tissue and relaxation massages, Serenity
provides a unique jade stone massage using BC jade. According to
massage therapist Carol, the jade is cut in to different shapes and
sizes and applied at various temperatures to the body, it not only
helps with physical healing, it is also believed to contribute to
emotional health.
If you haven’t got time for that, there’s always the massage chair,
where visitors are welcome to drop by for a quick 10, 20 or 30-minute
massage.
Serenity Spa is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, it is located right
next door to the Bayshore Inn Convention Centre on Waterton Avenue.
Guests of the Bayshore Inn and Glacier Suites receive a 10 per cent
discount at the spa.
