The Goderich Little Theatre is abuzz with final rehearsals for the last show of the 60th season.
To mark the occasion with finesse, local talent - Floyd Herman, Rob Bundy, Maureen Langridge, Ray Langridge, Suzanne Daniels, Rosanne Field, Nisa Howe Lobb, Eric Lubbers and director, Susan Armstrong - have prepared a hilarious rendition of Moon Over Buffalo.
In the madcap comedy tradition of Lend me a Tenor, Moon Over Buffalo centers on George and Charlotte Hay, fading stars of the 1950s.
At the moment, they’re playing Private Lives and Cyrano De Bergerac in rep in Buffalo, New York with five actors. On the brink of a disastrous split-up caused by George’s dalliance with a young ingénue, they receive word that they might just have one last shot at stardom: Frank Capra is coming to town to see their matinee, and if likes what he sees, he might cast them in his movie remake of The Scarlet Pimpernel.
Unfortunately for George and Charlotte, everything that could go wrong does go wrong, abetted by a visit from their daughter’s clueless fiancé and hilarious uncertainty about which play they’re actually performing, caused by Charlotte’s deaf old stage-manager mother who hates every bone in George’s body.
Tickets can be purchased at The Livery Box Office Tuesdays and Thursdays 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Wednesdays 3 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.
Tickets prices are $20 for adults, $18 for seniors and $15 for students. Performances are April 25, April 26, May 1-3 at 8 p.m. and April 27 and May 3 at 2 p.m.
Join the Goderich Little Theare for its opening night gala on April 25 beginning at 7 p.m. This is a complimentary addition to all ticket holders that evening and patrons are encouraged to dress is their finest 1950s or semi-formal wear. This event will also spill over into a post-show celebration with a chance to mingle with the cast and crew.
